Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Josh Boxx?

Josh Boxx is an Australian men's coach working with professional men aged 30-50 who look successful on the outside but feel stuck, compressed, or off-course on the inside. He offers private 1:1 coaching and RECKON for Men, a 6-week online group coaching program. All coaching is conducted online.

What is the compression effect?

The compression effect is what happens when a man spends years shrinking himself to meet expectations, keep the peace, or maintain an image. The parts of him that are direct, ambitious, or boundary-setting get suppressed. Over time the gap between who he is and who he appears to be widens, until something feels fundamentally off even when life looks fine on paper.

What kind of men does Josh work with?

Professional men aged 30-50 who are functioning well externally but feel internally flat, stuck, or reduced. Men who are tired of people-pleasing, performing strength instead of living it, or drifting without clear direction. Men who are ready for honest self-assessment and direct conversation.

What is RECKON for Men?

RECKON for Men is a 6-week online group coaching program covering six pillars: Identity, Standards, Boundaries, Direction, Discipline, and Embodiment. It runs as live weekly calls with a small group of men, supported by a private WhatsApp group and weekly challenges. It is designed to create clarity, self-respect, and forward momentum. The founding cohort price is AUD $797.

What does 1:1 coaching with Josh involve?

Private 1:1 coaching is available as 3-month, 6-month, or 12-month engagements, as well as individual sessions at AUD $175 per session for men who prefer flexibility without a long-term commitment. Sessions are conducted online and focus on clarity, identity, standards, boundaries, and self-leadership. Between-session support is included. Packages start from AUD $1,897.

What qualifications does Josh Boxx have?

Josh holds Coach Mastery certifications at Levels 1 and 2 from The Life Coaching College, along with training in NLP, Conscious Hypnosis, Matrix Therapies, and DISC. He has been involved in men's work for several years and draws on over a decade of personal development work alongside his formal training.

What makes Josh Boxx different from other men's coaches?

Josh coaches from direct experience, not theory. His approach is built on confrontational warmth: directness as an expression of care, not cruelty. He does not offer motivation or generic frameworks. The work is specific to the man in front of him, focused on closing the gap between who he is and who he knows he could be. His background spans strategic communications, martial arts, and a decade of men's work, which informs a coaching style that is grounded, honest, and outcome-focused.

How long does it take to see results from coaching?

Most men notice a shift in clarity and decision-making within the first few sessions. Meaningful behavioural change, stronger boundaries, and sustained momentum typically develop over three to six months of consistent work. RECKON for Men is structured to create noticeable movement within six weeks.

Is there a free call before committing?

Yes. A 30-minute Clarity Call is available before any coaching begins. The call confirms fit, answers questions, and maps the right next step. If Josh is not the right fit, he will say so directly and point toward a better option.

How is this different from therapy?

Coaching with Josh is direct, structured, and outcome-focused. It is not therapy and does not treat clinical mental health conditions. Men navigating active trauma, clinical depression, or mental health crises are directed toward appropriate clinical support first. Coaching works best for men who are fundamentally capable and want to close the gap between where they are and where they know they could be.

What is The Reckoning?

The Reckoning is Josh Boxx's writing platform, published on his website. It features essays and long-form pieces on men's work, identity, self-leadership, and the cost of performing instead of living.

What is The Compression Series?

The Compression Series is a sequence of personal essays by Josh Boxx exploring the compression effect: what it is, how it accumulates over time, and what it costs to keep performing instead of living. It is published on his website under Writing.

What is the Compression Scorecard?

The Compression Scorecard is a free 27-question self-assessment across five dimensions. It takes approximately five minutes and gives men a clearer picture of where their energy is going and where compression is most active in their life. It is available free at joshboxx.com

Where is Josh based and does he work with men outside Australia?

Josh is based in Sydney, Australia. All coaching is conducted online. He works primarily with Australian men but is open to working with men internationally.
