The Compression Effect
A five-part series on what happens to men who spend years editing themselves into someone easier to handle.
The Compression Effect began as a single idea and became five pieces of writing I didn't plan. I wrote it because I kept seeing the same pattern in my own life and in the lives of the men I work with. Men who are functioning well by every external measure and quietly disappearing from themselves.
These five parts are not a programme or a prescription. They are a record of what I noticed, what it cost me, and what I found on the other side of being more honest with myself. I have shared them in the order they were written, because the order matters. Each part builds on the last.
If any of it lands for you, I'd like to hear about it.
